Pride in the Worship Ministry

The Origin of Pride

Consider this:

Imagine an amazing celestial being, far more superior in splendor and beauty.
Created in all majesty and wonder.
Of all the greatness and glory beyond measure and this being.
Fall short because pride was found in his heart and therefore fall short & sinned.

Isaiah 14:12-15 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Fall of Lucifer

“How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
For you have said in your heart:
‘I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’
Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
To the lowest depths of the Pit.

If Lucifer an angelic being, so perfected and lived in the heavenly realm..
And even he is not immune to pride and can fall short and sinned.
What more us, human beings?
What damage can it cause & how to rectify it?

Signs of Pride:
An overwhelming Display of Self Glory rather than the Glory given to God.

These are the few examples of Pride:

During the whole service when worship is taking place,
you will notice that there is no discipline or honor displayed.
They find themselves exclusive and aloft
 - a kind of superiority that they belong to a different class of people from the rest of the church.

They will not able to be receive correction.
And correction will be handled with anger, spite and self-righteousness.
It's like, " Who are you to correct me?"
Even the pastors & the elders refrain from handling them.

Their fruits of Pride will show more than the spiritual grace.
They will always look for self-glory.
Easily angered, arrogant and full of themselves.

They love to show-off their accomplishment and often gloat on what they can do,
and even what they can do evil and get-away from it without facing the consequences.

They love to Bully.
Be-little others, instill condemnation and destroy what they cannot control.
The motivation to do anything but absent of love.

All these are tell-tale signs that the sin of Pride is evident and had taken roots in the church.
These often take root in the place of power.
A place of position and authority of often greatly coveted for the love of glory and self-gratification.

When you look at the Bible about what God talks about an arrogant person,
it is as if, judgment had already pronounced upon them and the punishment is due.

Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord;
be assured, he will not go unpunished.

Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.
Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.

But he gives more grace.
Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

How to Handle an Arrogant, Proud Person?

1) Pray for Them: Ask God to reveal to them their Error.

2) Talk to your Pastor: Explain to him how this have wronged you.

3) If situation had become very serious
- even after all you had done but nothing had been done in corrections:
- Ask God what is the next step you need to do.

Pride is a Sign to show you that there is weak or no leadership in the ministry.
If there is no obedience and direction, it's best to reconsider why you are there in the first place.

Perhaps your purpose in that ministry / church is to learn a lesson.
Or to help a brother / sister during that season of time.
Or you are meant to identify your sole purpose and focus only on that direction - nothing else.

Falling away from the identity and purpose can stray away a person and fall into a trap.
It is very important to seek and find out the purpose of why you are there in the first place.

Without this reason,
Grace is unavailable and everything will be of your own strength.
Everything appears to be of strive and of your own doing.

Seek first God and look for his guidance.
It will save you from a lot of heartache and trouble,
especially from the proud-hearted.
