True Worshippers
“Woman,” Jesus replied,
“Believe me, a time is
coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in
Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do
know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come
when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth,
for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his
worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
John 4: 21 - 24
This is my
favourite verse in the Bible.
This is very
much my heart beat of what I cry out in worship.
Let's look at this again.
1) Believe
me,
that a time
is coming that you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in
Jerusalem
- where location is no longer an issue.
2) Yet a time
is coming & has now come when
The True Worshippers will worship the Father in the
spirit & in truth.
3) For they
are the kind of worshipers the Father
seeks.
It's about
worship is that its no longer coming to a place
to offer the
sacrifice of praise and worship that marks the criteria.
Its no
longer Jerusalem nor the Holy Mountain.
Its no
longer this holy altar nor a sanctuary.
Nor its in a
church worship setting or a prayer room.
Jesus
changed the idea of what was understood as "going to church is different
from being church"
It is now to
be understood as a gathering of true worshipers that ushers the Presence of God
to a location. That location is now becomes holy because "true
worshipers" gather and worship God.
I'm amazed
when Jesus said about true worshipers.
Why True worshipers?
Why not just
address as worshipers or those who worship God?
Is there a
difference between true worshipers and worshipers?
Yes, there
is.
A true
worshiper seeks to please God.
This
worshiper seeks internally and constantly give that due honor to God in worship
wholeheartedly
with all that is within.
He seeks
with faith and searches the scriptures, listens to God's voice and offer that
holy worship.
In contrast
to an ordinary worshiper who would worship God without making that sacrifice,
as in a
crowd follower. That is the difference.
But above
all, what overwrites everything is that God seeks for these kind of true
worshipers.
It is these
that God is seeking - the true worshipers,
not so much
the offering of worship. God is seeking the person.
And so when
these few true worshipers gathers,
the Presence
of God floods the place making the place Holy for God is presence
- dwelling
in the praises of his true worshipers.
And those
who carry the Presence of God,
becomes the
Living Ark of God.
